According to the Argentine Football Association, FIFA has approved the Argentine Football Association's formal request regarding the method of enforcing the penalties.

The Argentine Football Association has submitted a formal request to FIFA, hoping that the penalties imposed on its players and the Argentine Football Association during the 2026 World Cup final can be carried out in A-level friendly matches or official matches, whichever comes first.
According to documents submitted by the Argentine Football Association (AFA), the FIFA Disciplinary Committee considers the request to have been approved under current regulations. Nevertheless, to protect its own and the players' rights, the AFA is still awaiting an explanation of the decision's rationale in order to appeal to the FIFA Appeals Committee and may consider the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as a final avenue for appeal.
