According to talkSPORT, Atletico Madrid sent a delegation to London last week to negotiate with Arsenal regarding the possibility of a transfer for Julian Álvarez.
According to sources, Atletico Madrid have already contacted Arsenal and made it clear that the club is willing to consider selling Alvarez if they receive an offer of more than £120 million.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid has made it clear that it will not sell the Argentine striker to Barcelona, and recently reiterated this position in a board statement.
In a statement, Atletico Madrid said: "The club is willing to participate in normal transfer market negotiations on a professional, ethical and mutually respectful basis."
"We stand firmly with our previously announced position: FC Barcelona has failed to meet these demands, therefore there will be no negotiations between the two sides, nor will we consider the possibility of Alvarez transferring to Barcelona."
Atletico Madrid also conveyed a clear message to Alvarez, hoping the player would understand the club's decision and continue to focus on helping the team achieve its goals.
Currently, tensions are emerging between Alvarez and Atletico Madrid. It is reported that the Argentine striker has missed two consecutive days of team training, officially cited as a physical discomfort.
If Alvarez ultimately decides to leave, Arsenal are prepared to make a move in the final stages before the transfer window closes. However, the Gunners are also assessing the level of commitment the player would make upon joining, and the two sides have even discussed a loan option.
Alvarez will join Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in the summer of 2024 for a transfer fee that could reach as high as £82 million. During his time at Manchester City, he helped the team win the treble and contributed 36 goals in 103 appearances.
Since joining Atletico Madrid, Alvarez has demonstrated a stronger attacking influence, playing 107 games for the team and scoring 49 goals.
